Today the kids had to build and program a robot to navigate down a narrow tunnel to pick up the scroll and bring it out.Parallel processing
What is it?
Parallel processing lets the robot perform two or more actions at once.
How do you use it?
Select the crowbar tool (Shift key) then click and drag anywhere on the main path, you should see a second path come out of the first, now just place your secondary actions on this path.
When would you use it?
Parallel processing should be used anywhere where you need two action done at once, for example: In the challenge today when your robot picks up the scroll and backs up, to prevent the arm that grabs the scroll from opening again you might want to use parallel processing to keep the arm in grab position.
5 - For working robot
5 - Use parallel process
5 - Not knocking the scroll off stand
5 - Picking up the scroll
5 - Carry the scroll back without dropping
5 - For robot that returns on it's own.

HardWired Gray Shirts This team hgad excellent team work. They programmed in stages, testing as they went, trouble shooting along the way. They came up with many creative solutions, one being an additional attachment in case their robot was to drop or miss the scroll allowing the scroll to still be retrieved (they got bonus points for this creative solution). Great job! 5 - For working robot 5 - Use parallel process 5 - Not knocking the scroll off stand 2.5 - Picking up the scroll 5 - Carry the scroll back without dropping 5 - For robot that returns on it's own. 10 - Teamwork 3 - Bonus Correction Total = 40.5 | Team 2 This team had a finicky robot today, it did not want to go straight! They trouble shot and trouble shot but it just wouldn't do it. Then they compensated with making a left veer and aiming it differently. And they did it! The robot retrieved the scroll after the first attempt ! Well done! 5 - For working robot 5 - Use parallel process 5 - Not knocking the scroll off stand 5 - Picking up the scroll 5 - Carry the scroll back without dropping 5 - For robot that returns on it's own. 9 - Teamwork 3 - Bonus 1st try Total = 42 | DEA's This robot started off with a few interesting design of wheels. It changed and evolved as they trouble shot some problems. The robot then too started to go a little haywire, going in circles. Some more brainstorming and compensating and the robot was at least able to make it to get the scroll. Didn;t come back but a big improvement in the last few attempts. 5 - For working robot 5 - Use parallel process 5 - Not knocking the scroll off stand 5 - Picking up the scroll 0 - Carry the scroll back without dropping 0 - For robot that returns on it's own. 8 - Teamwork 3 - Bonus for sensor Total = 31 |
